03 Greater Bay Area development strategies Given the HKSAR Government's proactive drive towards promoting closer collaboration between higher education institutions in Hong Kong and the GBA, the School has identified “Contributing to Human Capital Development in the GBA” as a key strategy in its 2025-2030 Strategic Plan. This initiative aims to elevate the quality and competitiveness of human resources in the region, thereby catalysing economic growth and integration within the GBA. In a demonstration of this commitment, the School has built a dedicated website to centralise the latest information on programmes and activities. This platform enables individuals in the North District and the GBA to access up-to-date information anytime, anywhere, facilitating easy planning for further studies. Moreover, the establishment of the Mainland Affairs Office in August 2024 has reinforced connections among the three Colleges, the Community College and the International College of the School, as well as institutions, enterprises, and individuals in Mainland China. This initiative aims to advance lifelong learning, support human resources development, and facilitate academic growth, knowledge exchange and industrialisation in the region. In April 2025, the School formalised a Memorandum of Understanding with the School of Continuing Education of Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) to forge a partnership. The inaugural collaborative project, Diploma in Foundation Studies (E-learning Mode), will leverage the strengths of both institutions to blend theoretical education with hands-on practice. This partnership will focus on establishing an integrated training model termed “Cloud Classroom + Practice Base”, offering Mainland students a coherent pathway for further studies and robust talent reinforcement for the Belt and Road Initiative. New Learning Centre in Sheung Shui As the first provider of continuing education in Hong Kong, HKU SPACE continues to invest in broadening its teaching network. Following the establishment of a new centre in Kowloon Bay, the School has inaugurated a new learning centre in Sheung Shui, located in the North District of the New Territories. This centre commenced operations in mid-May this year, offering innovative educational services to Mainland participants and marking a milestone for the School in building connections with higher education institutions in the GBA. The Sheung Shui campus represents the School's first learning centre in the New Territories. Strategically positioned adjacent to the Sheung Shui MTR station and a mere 20-minute journey from Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau, the campus provides exceptional convenience to participants from the Mainland. This development adheres to the School's motto of “bringing classes to the students” and its professional mission of extending educational opportunity into the community. Spanning almost 20,000 square feet, the new Sheung Shui campus boasts a design that blends wood accents, vibrant carpets, and greenery to create a diverse, contemporary, comfortable, and dynamic learning ambience. The Centre features six seminar rooms, a common area, and one computer room to support both face-toface and distance learning. Several seminar rooms are versatile spaces suitable for a range of teaching and activities including dance, yoga, music, computer skills, and culinary arts. The adaptable layout maximises space utility, ensuring optimal usage. Wellequipped and thoughtfully designed, the new campus offers an ideal learning environment for participants from the North District and the Mainland.

The MOU was signed by Professor William K.M. Lee, Director of HKU SPACE, and Professor Paul Seawright, Deputy Vice Chancellor at Ulster University. The School and the University established a partnership in 1996 and have been strategic partners since 2018, offering programmes such as the Master of Science in Sport and Exercise Nutrition, the Bachelor of Science (Hons) Food and Nutrition, the Postgraduate Diploma in Human Nutrition, The School and Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore successfully signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on June 30 at Temasek Polytechnic, with Professor William K.M. Lee, Director of HKU SPACE, and Mr Aw Tuan Kee, Deputy Principal of Temasek Polytechnic, serving as representatives for the signing. The agreement aims to provide student and faculty exchange opportunities while fostering academic collaboration between the two institutions. This year’s Annual School Concert, titled “The Joys of Spring”, took place on 10 April at the College Theatre of HKU SPACE Community College. The concert was a vibrant success with over 300 attendees. The concert commenced with a fabulous performance by piano virtuoso and guest lecturer Huang Naiwei, who enchanted the audience with classic pieces like “Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence” and “Swanee”. Following this, Ms Natalie Ho, an alumna of HKU SPACE and a member of the emerging girl group STRAYZ, brought a fresh breeze with pop songs such as “Byebye Byebye Byebye Byebye…” and “You Gotta Screw Up At Least Once”. The stage then welcomed Ma Wai-him (Didaboy), principal suona and guan player of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, collaborating with guitarist Ron Ng and bass player Vinc Chan to present captivating performances of “Sing sing sing” and “Spain”, showcasing their virtuosity and innovative musical blends, leaving the audience awestruck. Cal and Zoe then took the stage with an energetic tap dance performance that not only enthralled with its rhythm but also engaged the audience, filling the auditorium with applause, laughter, and rhythmic footsteps. In the grand finale, School teacher Lokin, accompanied by amazing talents such as Him J, Hoini, and DJ SuenNam, introduced elements of hip-hop dance to the audience through dynamic performances set to hiphop beats. They invited the audience to join in the hip-hop dance and DJing, concluding the concert on a high note. The success of the concert was a result of the stellar performances by the guests, teachers, and alumni, as well as the generous support of the title sponsor, Mr William Au Weng-hei, SBS, JP, and other sponsors. All proceeds raised will be directed towards the HKU SPACE bursaries to aid financially disadvantaged full-time students. 09

This year, the School organised three keynote talks and over 80 engaging talks covering the latest topics of Market Trends, Languages & Culture, Wellness & Health, and Profession & Career. Whether you sought to enhance your skills or delve into new interests, there was always an inspiring moment awaiting you! From AI revolution to the appreciation of Cantonese opera With the surge of Artificial Intelligence making waves globally in recent years, the first keynote talk was led by Dr Bruce Cheung, Head of College of Life Sciences and Technology, HKU SPACE, Dr Li Chan Wing, Hong Kong veteran media professional, and Professor Yiu Siu Ming, Director of the FinTech and Blockchain Laboratory and the Associate Director of the Center for Information Security . They explored the impact of "Artificial Intelligence in Daily Life: Understanding its Impact and Potential". In the midst of a global tariff dispute initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump, Mr Fred Wong, Founder and Chief Investment Officer of eFusion Capital Limited, dissected global investment strategies amidst fluctuating exchange rates in his talk on "Unlocking Investment Opportunities under the Trade War". Cantonese Opera, a blend of literature, drama, and aesthetics, boasts high artistic value. The charms of this intangible cultural heritage was spotlighted in a talk on "Exploring the Vocal, Tonal and Pedagogical Aspects of Cantonese Opera Singing", presented by Dr Yuen Siu Fai, BBS, BH, Professor in the Music Department of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Professor Chan Sau Yan, Vice President of the Hong Kong Cantonese Opera Scholars Association. Navigating success in branding The influence of the popular social media platform Xiaohongshu lies in its adeptness at steering consumer trends and generating buzz. "Three Must-Know Traffic Secrets of Xiaohongshu" unveiled the platform's potential, empowering brands to distinguish themselves in a competitive landscape. As Artificial Intelligence reaches remarkable levels of sophistication, "From Buttons to Brushstrokes: What Really Makes (or Breaks) an Illustrator" highlighted the impact and opportunities of AI drawing tools on the illustration sector. Embracing healthy living Looking to infuse tranquillity into your bustling routine? "A universe in a flower: An introduction to Ikebana" offered insights on healing the body and mind through floral art, delving into the meaning and philosophy of Ikebana. "From Fragrance to Serenity: Unlocking the Power of Tao of Incense in Modern Life" guided on integrating incense into daily practices to craft a serene ambiance that nurtures the mind, body, and soul. Health is invaluable. "Understanding the ‘Three Peace-of-Mind Documents’ and their Impact on the Elderly" elaborated on leveraging the three essential documents for planning ahead for later life. "New Acupuncture TechniquesCheek Acupuncture Therapy" shed light on acupoints, clinical applications, and specialised needling techniques to enhance patient care. "DSE Study Planning" is tailored for DSE graduates. "DISC and Lead: Transforming Personalities into Powerful Leadership" examined how different personalities influence leadership styles, while "A Multifaceted View of Advertising and Public Relations" explored advertising and digital PR topics, aiding students in identifying strengths and weaknesses to adapt to the ever-changing era of technology. 學院與香港體院簽署合作備忘錄 攜手培育精英運動員 HKU SPACE Signs MOU with Hong Kong Sports Institute for Elite Athletes Study Programmes 區永熙學生共享空間命名典禮 Naming Ceremony of the William Au Weng Hei Student Common Room 12 學院與香港體育學院(體院)於2025年5月12 日簽署合作備忘錄,由學院院長李經文教授及 體院院長蔡玉坤先生MH代表簽署。合作內容 包括,由體院提名運動員修讀由學院提供的運 動教練及管理相關課程,以提升運動員的學術 能力和水平,以及為運動員提供學術和職業指 導,幫助他們準備退役後的職涯規劃。 在簽署儀式上,李經文教授致辭時表示:「我 們致力讓運動員能夠在嚴格的訓練和學術追求 之間取得平衡,確保他們在兩個領域都能出類 拔萃。」 蔡玉坤先生MH致辭時說:「這項合作將使學 生運動員能夠全職訓練,同時繼續他們的學術 和個人發展。」 學院於2025年8月4日假九龍東分校舉行「區 永熙學生共享空間」命名典禮,以答謝區永熙 先生的慷慨捐助。典禮邀得區先生及其家人、 學院院長李經文教授及學院基金主席梁永祥 教授擔任主禮嘉賓。 典禮上,李經文教授致辭時說:「區先生一直 對學院熱心捐助,除是次的命名外,他還多次 捐助學院,並以籌款小組主席及校友會會長的 身份,為學院提供寶貴建議。為表彰其貢獻, 區先生於2018年獲頒榮譽院士。我們衷心感 謝他的無私奉獻。」梁教授亦表示,區先生的 貢獻為不少優秀學子紓緩了沉重的經濟壓力, 使他們能夠充分發揮學術潛能,並為未來更大 的成就做好準備。區永熙先生感謝學院以他的 名字命名學生休息室,「我十分珍惜能為學院 貢獻的寶貴機會,並希望能藉此激勵各位量力 捐助,共同培育慷慨文化。」 A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between HKU SPACE and the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) on 12 May 2025. The MOU was signed by Professor William K.M. Lee, Director of HKU SPACE, and Mr Tony Choi, MH, Chief Executive of the HKSI. The collaboration involves HKSI nominating athletes to participate in sports, coaching and recreation management programmes offered by the School to enhance their academic proficiency and standards. Additionally, academic and vocational guidance will be provided to On 4 August 2025, the School hosted the Naming Ceremony of the William Au Weng Hei Student Common Room at the Kowloon East Campus to honour the generosity and support of Mr William Au. The event was graced by the presence of Mr Au and his family, Professor William K.M. Lee, Director of HKU SPACE, and Professor William Leung, Chairman of the HKU SPACE Foundation, who officiated the ceremony. During the ceremony, Professor Lee expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mr Au: "Mr Au has consistently shown generous support to the School. In addition to this naming honour, he has made numerous donations and provided invaluable advice to the School through serving as the Chairman of the Fundraising Sub-committee and athletes to prepare them for their postathletic careers. During the signing ceremony, Professor Lee stated, "We are dedicated to helping our athletes to balance their rigorous training with their academic pursuits, ensuring that they can excel in both areas." Mr Choi, MH, remarked, "The collaboration will allow student athletes to train full time while continuing with their academic and personal development." President of the HKU SPACE ALUMNI. Each member of HKU SPACE has played an essential role in the School's growth. Through their unwavering commitment and professionalism, they have been instrumental in propelling the School forward, fostering innovation, and setting high standards in higher education. To honour their long-standing dedication, the School hosted the 2025 Long Service Award Ceremony on 12 June in the College Hall at the HPSHCC Campus. This year, a total of 69 colleagues marked milestones of 10, 15, 20, or 25 years of service to the School. Given the School's greater management role in the future operation of HPSHCC, this marked the first time the School collaborated with HPSHCC to organise the ceremony. 校友會春季活動情報 HKU SPACE ALUMNI Spring Activities 14 最是一年春好處,正是學習好時節。學院校友 會在春季舉辦了一連串精彩活動,與校友良朋 共聚,一同學習新知,並與藝術來一場美麗的 邂逅。 太極拳解碼健康人生 校友會於5月10日假保良局何鴻燊社區書院 與香港物業管理公司協會(協會)攜手舉辦「太 極拳及健康評估」活動。學院在1969年開辦 全港首個兼讀制房屋管理證書課程。隨着政府 要求房管經理以上職級須具備專業資格,學院 為社會培育了數以千計的房屋管理精英,當中 包括不少協會的會員。 是次活動亦是協會成立35周年啟動禮暨同樂 日,由學院院長李經文教授、協會會長兼校友 會副會長鄭錦華博士及校友會義務秘書許漢 忠先生等共同參與亮燈儀式,吸引了逾190名 校友及物管從業員參加。當天更邀請了香港楊 氏太極拳總會進行太極拳示範及教學,及職業 安全健康局為參加者進行健康評估,推動健康 生活文化。 校友會午宴連結友誼 為促進校友情誼,學院校友會於3月17日假 雅辰會舉行午宴,共五十多名賓客出席,濟濟 一堂。午宴上,區永熙先生及學院院長李經文 教授分別致歡迎辭,並由區先生向榮譽會員陳 坤耀教授頒發證書。當天精彩節目包括:義務 秘書許漢忠先生分享人工智能與數碼發展;委 員陳耀榮先生主持互動遊戲,回顧校友會的歷 史和發展;以及眾人期待的抽獎環節。這次宴 會為委員與校友組織提供了寶貴的交流機會, 促進了彼此之間的聯繫。 與藝術邂逅 走進世界級實驗室 第十屆Art Central於3月26日起在中環海濱 舉行,校友會在展會首天舉辦了「Art Central 2025導賞團」,讓校友們感受震撼人心的藝術 魅力。展會除了有備受好評的裝置藝術、影 像及表演節目外,更展出以「Legend」為專題 的項目,致敬1970年前的藝術先驅。整個展 覽網羅了逾500位來自世界各地藝術大師的 精心傑作。 生物醫學技術支援中心致力提供世界領先的 實驗室設備,優化客戶的研究項目,以推動香 港成為國際生物醫學科技中心。校友會於7月 19日安排了校友走進生物醫藥科技培育計劃 實驗室,觀摩生物樣本庫、基因組學等尖端生 物醫學儀器,讓他們深入了解中心的運作及 其貢獻。 聽講座贏商機 了解認知障礙症 隨着電子支付日趨普及,學院與財務策劃校 友會於3月27日合辦了「解鎖數字支付風險贏 得商機」講座,拆解了數字支付在電子商貿中 的重要性,並邀得Asiapay亞太區安全風險 總監陳偉業先生主講,財務策劃校友會主席 葉榮鏗博士同時出席答問環節。 另外,隨着全球人口壽命延長及認知障礙症 患病率上升,校友會亦於7月4日邀得精神 專科醫生劉家獻主講「認知障礙症(老人癡呆 症):回顧與前瞻」,為大家講解病徵,及如 何透過積極治療與照護以維持患者生活品質, 減輕照顧者的壓力。 校友會春季活動情報 HKU SPACE ALUMNI Spring Activities
15 Spring heralds the prime season for learning, and the HKU SPACE ALUMNI curated a series of engaging activities during spring to reunite with alumni and friends. These events aimed to share learning experiences and offer a delightful encounter with art. Tai chi for a healthy lifestyle On 10 May, the ALUMNI collaborated with the Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies (HKAPMC) to host a “Tai Chi and Health Fun Day” session at Po Leung Kuk Stanley Ho Community College (HPSHCC). Notably, the School introduced the first part-time Certificate in Housing Management programme in Hong Kong, back in 1969. In response to the Government's mandate for professional qualifications at the level of Housing Manager and beyond, the School has nurtured numerous housing management professionals for the community, many of whom are members of HKAPMC. This event also marked the 35th Anniversary Kick-off Ceremony and Fun Day for HKAPMC, drawing over 190 alumni and property management practitioners. The Kick-off Ceremony was graced by Professor William K.M. Lee, Director of HKU SPACE, Dr Edmond Cheng, President of HKAPMC and Vice-President of the ALUMNI Council, and Mr Aaron Hui, Honorary Secretary of the ALUMNI Council. The event featured a Tai Chi demonstration and workshop by the Hong Kong Yang's Taijiquan Fed Ltd. Additionally, the Occupational Safety and Health Council set up a health assessment services booth that offered various body metric tests to promote a culture of healthy living among participants. ALUMNI networking luncheon To enhance camaraderie among alumni, the ALUMNI hosted a luncheon on 17 March at the Artyzen Club, with over 50 guests in attendance. During the luncheon, Mr William Au and Professor William K.M. Lee, Director of HKU SPACE, delivered welcoming addresses, followed by the presentation of certificates to our esteemed Honorary Member, Professor Edward Chen. The event featured a sharing session on AI and Digital Development by Honorary Secretary Mr Aaron Hui, along with a digital game reviewing the history and development of HKU SPACE ALUMNI, presented by Council Member Mr Ivan Chan. The luncheon culminated in a highly anticipated lucky draw, serving as a valuable platform for the Subject Alumni Groups and the ALUMNI to strengthen connections. Encountering art and exploring a worldclass laboratory The 10th edition of Art Central took place at the Central Harbourfront starting from 26 March. On the first day of the fair, the ALUMNI hosted a Guided Tour to Art Central 2025, providing alumni with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the captivating artworks. Alongside acclaimed installations, videos, and performances, the fair showcased the “Legend” project, a homage to the early pioneers of the pre-1970 art scene. Featuring over 500 masterpieces by artists from across the globe, the fair was a celebration of artistic diversity. Hong Kong Biomedical Technology Support Centre is dedicated to furnishing top-tier laboratory facilities to enhance clients' research endeavours and to position Hong Kong as a global hub for biomedical technology. On 19 July, the ALUMNI organised a visit to the IncuBio Lab for alumni to explore the biobank, genomics, and other cutting-edge biomedical equipment. This visit aimed to provide participants with insights into the Centre's operations and its impactful contributions. Seizing business opportunities and understanding dementia With the surge in popularity of digital payment, the School collaborated with the HKU SPACE Financial Planning Alumni Society to host a talk titled “Unlock Digital Payment Risks to Win Business Opportunities” on 27 March. Mr Michael Chan, Security and Risk Director of AsiaPay, delivered the talk, while Dr Angus Yip, President of the HKU SPACE Financial Planning Alumni Society, participated in the Q&A session. Moreover, as global life expectancies rise and the incidence of Cognitive Disorder (Dementia) escalates, the ALUMNI invited Dr Lau Ka Hin, Specialist in Psychiatry, to present a talk on “Review & Update on Cognitive Disorder (Dementia)” on 4 July. Dr Lau delved into the symptoms of the disease and elucidated strategies to enhance patients' quality of life and alleviate caregivers' stress through proactive treatment and compassionate care.

The award presentation ceremony, attended by Professor Dorothy Chan, Deputy Director (Administration and Resources) of HKU SPACE, took place on 21 March 2025. Over the past 68 years, the School has provided quality continuing education and articulation degree programmes to over 3.4 million enrolments. Since its inception in 2016, the HKU SPACE YouTube Channel has been dedicated to providing high-quality and diversified online talks covering topics such as technology, healthcare, business and social sciences, creating a platform for the general public to learn anytime, anywhere. In the future, the HKU SPACE YouTube Channel will continue to present more exciting content and explore the infinite possibilities of knowledge with you.
