HKU SPACE

I am very pleased to note that 2024/25 was another highly successful year for HKU SPACE. Full-time student enrolments were particularly strong, which bodes well for the future alongside the steady part-time student enrolments. The School was able to return another sound inancial performance. This broad-based success re lects the sustained hard work undertaken by colleagues throughout the organisation. A notable development during the year was the preparation of the School’s Strategic Plan for the ive-year period to 2030. Since this will be described elsewhere in this Annual Report, I will simply say that the Board of Directors was enthusiastic in supporting the Plan. 本人欣然看到,香港大學專業進修學院在 2024/25年度繼續表現卓越。我們的全日制課 程收生人數增長強勁,加上兼讀制學生人數保持 穩定,為學院未來發展奠定良好基礎,也使學院 的財務再度有亮眼表現。學院在本年度取得全面 成功,正是全體同事努力不懈的成果。 本年度學院的一項重要工作是,我們已擬定 《2025–2030年發展策略》,並得到董事局的大 力支持。本周年報告的其他章節將對此計劃進行 詳述。 Moreover, I should also report that the University’s Vision for 20262035 maintains its commitment to developing and extending lifelong learning opportunities to the wider community which is very much the HKU SPACE Mission which it delivers so well on behalf of the University. My past few Introductions have all mentioned the Government’s reform of the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance, Cap 320. The good news is that the legislative process has at last been completed, some seven years since completion of the review which prompted the changes. However, that is not the end of the story since, in the course of the Legislative Council scrutiny, the Secretary for Education stated that it was not mandatory for the self- inanced units of UGC-funded universities o ering full-time degree or sub-degree programmes for school-leavers to migrate to the reformed legislation. The School will therefore assess the implications of this for advice to the Board of Directors and the University. Fortunately there is time for this as Cap 320 does not come into e ect until August 2026 and then allows a two-year period for migration. I am sure that I will be returning to these matters in the 2025/26 Annual Report, hopefully for the last time! Finally, I should record my customary thanks to the Board of Directors during 2024/25. As well as our ive Board meetings there were other committees, meetings, retreats and presentations that members attended physically or virtually. Their contributions are an important part of our corporate governance and are much appreciated. I am grateful to the directors who retired during 2024/25 and welcome the new directors appointed during the year to take their places. Many thanks to all! 此外,香港大學在其《展望十年2026–2035》 中,繼續堅定承諾,致力為社會各界人士開拓和 擴展終身學習機會,而這正是香港大學專業進修 學院的使命。一直以來,學院始終秉持專業精 神,為大學踐行這項使命。 在過去幾份周年報告的序言中,我們均有提及政 府對《專上學院條例》(第320章)的改革。這項 修訂案檢討工作歷經七年後,終於在本年度完成 立法程序,無疑是一大喜訊。 然而,此議題尚未結束。在立法會審議過程中, 教育局局長表示,大學教育資助委員會資助大學 的附屬自資部門,若為中學畢業生提供全日制學 位或副學位課程,則無須強制根據修訂的專上學 院條例註冊。為此,學院將就此法案進行評估, 並向�事局及大學提交建議。由於第320章註 冊條例在2026年8月1 日生效後設有兩年過渡 期,我們尚有時間處理相關事宜。 我相信,在明年2025/26的周年報告中,將是 最後一次就此議題作出報告。 最後,我謹向2024/25年度的各位董事局委員 致謝,他們除了積極參與五次董事局會議外,亦 親身或透過網上出席支持其他委員會、會議、集 思會及演講。他們的貢獻是我們企業管治的重要 組成部分,非常值得稱許。我亦衷心感謝在本年 度卸任的董事局委員,同時歡迎新任委員履新。 謹向各位致上誠摯謝意!
