The National Security Law took effect at 11 pm on 30 June 2020 upon gazettal in the HKSAR. The National Security Law has 6 chapters and 66 articles, which criminalise four types of acts: secession, subversion, terrorist activities, and collusion with a foreign country or with external elements to endanger national security. This course aims to provide an accurate understanding of the relationship between the National Security Law and the Basic Law as well as the enforcement mechanisms to safeguard national security.
