Lee 李經文 Director 院長 Message from the Director 院長序言 I am delighted to announce that, in relation to the International Quality Review, the German Agency ASIIN has now confirmed that our institutional accreditation seal has been extended for 5 years until 30 September 2028. This confirms that HKU SPACE fulfils the institutional, procedural and cultural requirements for good teaching and successful learning. The experts commended that “HKU SPACE’s institutional leadership is particularly strong, and the institution is procedurally rigorous.” We are committed to innovative teaching and learning and have been in e-learning to enhance students’ learning experiences. The School transformed its Island South Pokfulam campus into a technology hub “TechnoSPACE” to support disciplines such as aviation, e-sports, geotechnical engineering, and biomedical science. We are very grateful for Ms Ginny Man's generous support for biomedical education and have named the biomedical science laboratory after her. Our Microcredential offer increased to over 200 courses. Starting from October 2023, Microcredential digital badges will be available for viewing on the SOUL 3.0 platform and downloading by awardees who, since 13 April 2023, have completed Certificate for Module programmes designated as Microcredentials and during the five-year period prior to that date. On full-time education, admission and enrolment numbers were again higher for our Community College this year, despite the demographic decline. International College also celebrated its 20th anniversary in July. It will work closely with international partners to provide top-up degrees and alternative articulation pathways for students. I am also happy to share that we have upgraded our HKU SPACE website with many new features to provide a better experience. The webpage menu has been reorganised to make it easier to find the information you need. With interest categories and event information right on the first page, it is easier to explore these sections and stay up-to-date with the latest offerings. Additional information such as teacher profiles, academic progression, and career prospects have been added in the programme pages to give you a deeper understanding of our programmes. Finally, the School received its first-ever Gold Award in the “PrivacyFriendly Awards 2023”. Organised by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD), these awards aim to recognise organisations, both public and private, as well as government departments, for their outstanding commitment to protecting personal data privacy. This achievement showcases our unwavering commitment and ongoing efforts in implementing strong data governance practices through our Personal Data Privacy Management Programme.
