The inter-connectedness among the governing institutions, political leadership, economic development and economic integration will be discussed. Other topics include ideological differences, social identity, law and order, cross-border crime control, intergovernmental relations, and the politics of planning and infrastructure development are also covered. Applicants shall: a) hold a bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognized institution; OR b) i. have gained in the HKCEE Grade E in 5 subjects, and Level 3 in Chinese Language and English Language; or ii. have gained in the HKDSE Examination Level 3 in 5 subjects including English Language and Chinese Language; or iii. have gained in the HKALE Grade E in 2 AL subject(s) or 2 AS subject(s); AND possess at least 5 years of work experience; For (a) applicants whose degree is from an institution where the language of teaching and assessment is not English), they must provide evidence of English proficiency, such as: i. an overall band of 6.0 with no subtests lower than 5.5 in the IELTS; or ii. a score of 550 in the paper-based TOEFL, or a score of 213 in the computer-based TOEFL, or a score of 80 in the internet-based TOEFL; or iii. Students will also learn how to deal with the challenges facing most of the political campaigns such as how to persuade people (perhaps voters, opinion leaders and governmental decision makers, etc) through effective communication to join the politician’s side; how to get his/her supporters to do what he/she need them to do; how to mitigate the opposition; and how to finance the effort. Applicants shall: (a) hold a bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognized university or equivalent; or (b) hold an Associate Degree/ a Higher Diploma or equivalent, and have at least 2 years of work experience; or (c) be mature students holding relevant professional qualifications. The programme is practical-oriented. After an introduction that discusses historical aspects of communication and public relations in politics, the programme looks at fundamental themes of political communication, such as agenda setting, framing, and branding. Applicants shall: (a) hold a bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognized university or equivalent; or (b) hold an Associate Degree/ a Higher Diploma or equivalent, and have at least 2 years of work experience; or (c) be mature students holding relevant professional qualifications. Applicants with other qualifications and substantial senior level work experience will be considered on individual merit. HK$7,500 per programme (Admin charge applies to course withdrawal.) This executive programme is a specialized course commissioned by the Path of Democracy, which aims to train and develop young political leaders to meet the needs and unique political situation in Hong Kong. Applicants shall: - hold a bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognized university or equivalent; or - be mature students holding recognized professional qualifications. Applicants with other qualifications and substantial senior level work experience will be considered on individual merit.
